When Brian and Vincent Wu considered opening their first Incu store 10 years ago in Sydney, the landscape of the Australian fashion industry was decidedly different. Online shopping, especially for clothing, was almost non-existent and access to lesser-known international labels was limited. More importantly, `Friends' was still airing on television and `Coldplay' had just released their album `A Rush of Blood to the Head'.
While the brothers toiled at their 9-5 jobs in I.T, they spoke often of starting a business of their own together. Inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of their Grandfather, their love of travel, international brands and emerging Australian fashion, Brian and Vincent decided to take a risk and do something they knew almost nothing about. Retail.
In 2002, Incu began like many great things, as a simple but powerful set of ideas. With a desire to create a store that would be at once innovative, personable and unique the Wu's, with the enthusiasm and charisma of bright eyed twenty something's, set out on a journey all their own.
A decade later Incu has flourished into a multi-faceted business with interests that extend well beyond the realms of fashion, a diverse and united community of customers and a somewhat unconventional approach to the everyday.
Next week we’ll be in store scooping a very special Incu-flavored gelato for customers, made by our friends at Gelato Messina especially for our 10th. We’ll also be releasing the latest in our series of Incu Edition magazines based around the birthday.
Online shoppers will recieve a gift with purchase from either Vanishing Elephant, Saturday’s Surf, Richer Poorer or Something Else on full price purchases over $50.
